For All You Gmail Addicts

with 3 comments

I relate. I really do. In my Safari browser, I type in “gm” and then it finishes it for me: gmail.com. It’s like it is reading my mind.

Sometimes when I am not doing much on the computer, I click on the Gmail bookmark or start typing it in without realizing it, even if I am already on my email page.

I think getting email is more exciting to me than Facebook messages. I like that I can be logged into chat, organize my messages, keep all my emails from different accounts in one place, and easily pull up a Google doc for work. When Gmail Themes came about, it probably worsened my email addiction after selecting the fox/oriental theme, cause then I had to keep logging in at different times of the day to see what the fox was up to.

Wait, why am I talking about Gmail? Oh, yeah, I forgot why I started talking about it in the first place. So a little while ago, I noticed Gmail “Labs”. I finally checked it out a little today (go into your Gmail account, click “Settings” in the upper right corner, and click on the “Labs” tab).

Gmail Labs is a testing grounds right within your email account to test out really cool features! Some are great utility-wise, other just plain fun.

Aaanyways, which brings me to this feature I enabled: Snake! Enable this lab feature, and whenever you’re on the main page in your account, just type “&”, and a game of Snake pops up on the screen!

Yeah, you know you'll wanna play this.

So, there, all you Gmail addicts. Here is just another useless time-killing bit of fun for you the next time you are hangin’ around in your Gmail.

Note to Self: It Might Get Loud

leave a comment »

In light of this Fong-Torres doc I’m working on, I’ve come across some amazing classic rockumentaries. I think It Might Get Loud is a new must-see rockumentary, and I’ve yet to see it (but plan on it). Different approach, a modern cinematic style, and new concept, it should be fascinating for many audiences.

This Must Mean I Watched Too Many Balloon Boy Videos Last Weekend

leave a comment »

Last weekend, I forced myself to stay home and relax since I feel like I am always on the go. I spent most of my time on the couch with my laptop catching up on this balloon boy madness.

But last night, I had the following dream (as vivid as it was, I will try to make sense of what I saw):

I was on my way to work, getting onto the highway on-ramp. But to the side of the on-ramp in the grassy area were about 9 or 10 crashed cars. I look ahead of me and slam on my brakes. There before me, was a giant black saucer-shaped balloon landing on the road, slightly deflated.

Next thing I know, I am out of my car and trying to make sense of the situation. Falcon’s dad is apparently “on the loose”, and dangerously armed. I talk to a couple men, I think they were authorities trying to find him. But we hear him coming, and I hide behind a tree.

I go from being outside, without my car and afraid of balloon boy’s dad, to going inside a building and on a film set. There is some movie being prepped, a film about Michael Buble. The actor playing Michael Buble is instructed to follow Michael and study his behavior. Even more, the director specifically instructs Michael and the actor to play in a preschool-looking classroom together.

Michael Buble begins playing with play-doh, and the actor does the same. Michael starts to form shapes, and then picks up a wooden-block toy. He gets the play-doh stuck inside the toy and gets frustrated, trying to clean it out.

Although it sounds silly (I mean the last half; the first half was just ridiculous), it made sense, even while I was dreaming, that the director would direct Buble and the actor to childplay. In the idea that an actor personifying a real-life person would follow and study the person’s behavior and personality, I think there is a lot to learn from watching how someone colors a book, plays with dough.

Anyways, to sum up my dream, I’ve pasted photos below of things that were somehow related to each other in this crazyland. How I got to Michael Buble and play-doh, I will never know.

Thinking Aloud

with one comment

It has been a long while since Ive doodled/sketched/painted.

Today I took Andys route home (from Orange County to Studio City). Instead of the 73N405N101S (~1.5-2hrs.), I took 73N405N605N91W710NValley Rd.S. Fremont Rd.134W. Yes, it was faster. But I shall try to alter it to find a way to not end up in Pasadena.

Oh, traffic. Today I took Andy's route home (from Orange County to Studio City). Instead of the 73N>405N>101S (~1.5-2hrs.), I took 73N>405N>605N>91W>710N>Valley Rd.>S. Fremont Rd.>134W (~1 hour, 10 min.). Yes, it was faster. But I shall try to alter it to find a way to not end up in Pasadena.
